First female shooter reaches finals in Rio

TEHRAN, Aug. 06 (MNA) – Elaheh Ahmadi, Iranian 10 meter air rifle shooter has secured a place in finals of the event on the first day of Rio Olympics.

Iran’s second female shooter in the section and the top seed of the national squad Najmeh Khedmati failed to reach to final. 57 shooters competed in a four round of shooting where 8 shooters would compete in finals to be held on August 7. Ahmadi was among the 8 finalists from China, Germany, Croatia, the US, and Russia. She was shooting in line 52, with Khedmati shooting in 32nd line.  

Iran has participated in shooting with 5 athletes. Ahmadi had reached finals in London Olympic of 2012 and in Rio, she scored her best 8.417 out of possible 10. Khedmati just came short in scores and lost the finals.

Along with these two females, Iran’s squad includes Pouria Nowrouzian in air rifle 2 Positions and 3 Positions, Mahleqa Jambozorg and Najmeh Khedmati in Rifle 3 Positions, and Golnoush Sebqatollahi in air pistol and 25-meter pistol.
